ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College football team played its homecoming game on Saturday at Docking Stadium for a week three matchup with Bluffton University. The Bulldogs went into halftime with a 23-7 lead, and continued to lead through the game, winning 23-15!
Adrian got out to an early 13-0 lead. A 19-yard field goal was made by
Alec Milley at the 11:57 mark in the first quarter. The Bulldogs get aggressive and block a punt inside their own ten-yard line by
Gauge Ginop with
Brett Allen recovering it at the nine-yard line and returning it for a touchdown, making it 10-0. Milley kicked another field goal from 24 yards out to increase the lead, 13-0.
Bluffton got on the scoreboard with a deep pass over the middle for a 25-yard catch and score making it 13-7. The ensuing drive, on the first play
Mark Lopez threw a deep ball to
Ben Coloske over the middle for a 75-yard score. Adrian was leading 20-7 with 8:04 in the second quarter. Milley, with his third made field goal of the half comes from 29 yards out making it 23-7 at the half.
It was a slow half for the Bulldogs. Bluffton around the 7-minute mark in the third quarter completes a pass for 34 yards and a score. Bluffton then decides to go for a two-point conversion and was successful closing in on the lead making it 23-15. Both Adrian and Bluffton were scoreless for the rest of the game, keeping the final score 23-15!
Offensively, Lopez was 10 of 17 with 225 yards and a touchdown.
Salvatore Patierno rushed for 89 yards followed by
Tejay Moore with 80. Coloske had five receptions totaling 138 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively,
Gauge Ginop led the way with nine tackles. Right behind him was
Ryker Bidwell and
Randall Broome with seven apiece. Adrian was stout on the defensive side of the ball forcing four turnovers, two fumbles and intercepting Bluffton twice as well.
Adrian returns to action on Saturday, September 23 on the road against Greenville University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM EST.
