Men's Soccer Draws with Earlham in Season Opener

RICHMOND, IN. – The Adrian College Men's Soccer team played its season opener on Wednesday as they traveled to Indiana to take on Earlham College. The Bulldogs fought hard, but the game ended in a scoreless 0-0 tie.

Adrian finished the game with 14 shots, with eight of them on goal, while giving up ten shots, and four of them on goal. Craig Fritz led all Bulldogs with four shots, three on goal. Brady Musser and Aidan Leline both played all ninety minutes for Adrian, while goalkeeper, Jackson Vacca, pitched the shutout for the Bulldogs, stopping all four shots he faced. Corners in the game were six a piece for both teams.

The Bulldogs now look to the weekend as they travel back to Indiana to compete in a two-game tournament, The 2023 Raven/Spartan Classic, co-hosted by Anderson University (IN) and Manchester University. The Bulldogs will first matchup against Manchester on Friday at 5:00PM and then face Anderson on Saturday at 3:00PM.

The winner of the tournament will be determined by the team with the best record with tiebreakers being determined through head-to-head matchup, goal differential and result of penalty-kick shootout, in that order. Each match that is tied after regulation will count statistically as a tie, but will be followed by a penalty-kick shootout for tournament tiebreaker purposes. Following the tournament, the head coaches will determine an 11-player all-tournament team along with an Offensive MVP and Defensive MVP.
