Club Baseball Sweeps Weekend Doubleheader Against Michigan-Dearborn

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team hosted the University of Michigan-Dearborn over the weekend in a home doubleheader. The Bulldogs came away with a pair of victories after defeating Michigan-Dearborn, 3-2 and 6-4. Adrian moves to 6-7 on the season with five games remaining in the fall slate.
 
Michigan-Dearborn jumped out to a 1-0 lead in game one after scoring the first run of the game in the third inning. Adrian went on to tie the game in the fourth after scoring on a wild pitch. Dearborn reclaimed the lead in the top of the sixth but didn't hold on long as the Bulldogs scored two in the bottom of the inning to come away with the victory. Jaren Sumners tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single which was followed by an RBI single from Logan Passeggiato to take the lead.
 
Carter Arbuckle started for Adrian on the mound throwing four innings allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts. Brock Hudik picked up the win in relief tossing the final two innings allowing one run on one hit.
 
In game two of Saturday's doubleheader, Dearborn took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Sumners singled in a run in the second to put Adrian on the board. In the third inning, Tyler Hall gave Adrian a 3-2 lead after hitting a 2-run homer. The Bulldogs added another run in the fourth on an RBI groundout. Michigan-Dearborn added two more runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4, but Luke Pope reclaimed the lead for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the inning on a 2-RBI single to win 6-4.
 
Logan Keane started on the mound for Adrian throwing four innings allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Jack Florig picked up a six-out save with a pair of scoreless innings.
 
Adrian resumes action on October 18 and 20 as they host Central Michigan University for a three-game home series. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM followed by a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 3:00 PM.
