NEW PARIS, Ind. – The Adrian College cornhole team traveled to Indiana to compete in the Underground ACL Regional. The Bulldogs competed 11 throwers on Sunday across six different brackets, and had six throwers place in the top-7.
Mason Foote and
Jackson Newman won the Competitive Doubles B Bracket to lead the team.
Foote and Newson started the day with an opening round bye before winning their next contest 23-5. The duo went on to win 24-17 and advance to the semifinals where they won 21-19. Foote and Newsome advanced to the championship match of the double eliminate bracket where they saw a rematch with their semifinal opponent. Foote and Newsome picked up where they left off and won the championship match, 25-15.
Alex Weaver competed in a tough Open Singles Bracket consisting of 25 throwers including two professionals. Weaver went on to place seventh in the bracket. Weaver lost his opening match but bounced back and won 25-12, 21-20, and 26-1 to place seventh.
Other notable placers were
Abigail Trepkowski,
Abigail Sawicki, and
Gage McMillan who finished fifth in their brackets.
The cornhole team will have their first home event on the campus of Adrian College on October 26. The Bulldogs will serve as host of an ACL College Tournament in the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. The tournament will begin at 9:00 AM.
