ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's rugby team battled the No. 9 team in the nation, Arkansas State University, at Docking Stadium on Friday afternoon in a spirited match. After being down for most of the match, the Bulldogs clawed back in the extra time frame to tie it late and finish with a 17-17 tie.
Benjamin Speight scored Adrian's first try, followed by
Jack Stephens who scored his try late in the game to bring things a little closer for the Bulldogs. In the extra portion of play,
Jerred Welt scored the Bulldogs' final try to make it 17-15, leading to
Luke Cullingworth's successful conversion attempt to even the score.
The men's rugby team will host Ohio State University on October 26 at Docking Stadium for two matches, at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The Bulldogs will also be hosting Pink Out Night, to raise awareness for Breast Cancer, in their battles with the Buckeyes.
