ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team hosted rival Ohio University at the Arrington Ice Arena in front of a packed crowd on Thursday night, but in a tight defensive and overall exciting matchup, the Bulldogs fell to the Bobcats, 3-1. Before the game, the Bulldogs honored the 2024 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 Hockey national championship team with a ceremonial puck drop.
The Bobcats opened the scoring in period one on a power-play goal just ten minutes in. No scoring from the Bulldogs left the Bobcats up by one after the opening frame. Ohio capitalized on a turnover just over halfway through the second period to go up 2-0, while the Bulldogs went scoreless for a second straight frame.
Third period action saw the Bulldogs pour it on and eventually find themselves a goal to bring the contest within one.
Matteo Turrin buried his seventh of the season with just under four minutes left as the Bulldogs continued to push back and pulling
Peyton Trzaska from the net for the extra attacker, but they ultimately came up short, giving up a late empty-net goal to lose 3-1. Trzaska made 27 saves in goal in the Adrian loss.
The MD1 Bulldogs, who only had the one game this week, head into the weekend preparing for a home-and-home series with Indiana Tech next week. Game one goes on Wednesday, October 30 at the Arrington Ice Arena at 7:30 PM while game two goes on Friday, November 1 in Fort Wayne at 7:30 PM.
