TAYLOR, Mich. – The Adrian College cornhole team was back in action over the weekend at another ACL sanctioned tournament. The Bulldogs had another impressive performance with two members tying for fifth in the Opens Singles Bracket, and one individual grabbing a second-place finish in the Intermediate Singles Bracket.
Blaine Proefke placed second in the Intermediate Bracket. Proefke made the championship match by sweeping his way through the winner's bracket. Proefke took victories of 26-12, 21-0, 22-15, and 25-19 before falling in the championship match.
In the Open Singles Bracket,
Morgan Blonde and
Alex Weaver each tied for fifth in the tournament. Blonde averaged 9.7 points per round while Weaver averaged 9.4 points per round. Blonde won matches 22-4, 22-12, and 24-17 before falling to the consolation bracket where she battled, but lost 21-17. Weaver won 22-4 before dropping his second match. Weaver battled through the consolation bracket with wins of 21-0, 21-18, 23-4, and 21-17 before ending his run.
The Bulldogs continue to build momentum down the stretch of the season. Adrian will look to keep their success alive as they travel to the ACL Open in Hamilton, Ohio on November 15-17.
