Women's Volleyball Falls Short in First Round of MIAA Tournament

ADRIAN, MICH.-- The Adrian College volleyball team faced off against Trine University in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament, as the Bulldogs traveled to Angola for a thrilling match. Despite a strong effort, the Bulldogs were ultimately outlasted by the Thunder, who took the win in four sets, advancing to the tournament quarterfinals.

Trine came out strong, claiming the first set to take an early lead. Adrian responded with determination in the second set, rallying behind several key kills to even the match. Sophomore Virginia Rowan was a standout for the Bulldogs, finishing with a team-high 13 kills. Senior Amber Morris kept the Bulldogs in the mix, contributing 8 kills of her own.

The Bulldogs' momentum grew in the second set, as they fought back to tie the match at one apiece. Defensively, Adrian had four team blocks, including two key blocks by freshman Ava Acre. Sophomore Chloe Kiser orchestrated the offense, leading the team with 14 assists, while junior Megan Reckling chipped in with 12 assists.

Defensively, Adrian's back row was anchored by senior Mya Minjares, who registered 18 digs, while junior Rainie Atherton contributed 16 digs to keep the Bulldogs in the fight.

However, Trine regained control in the third and fourth sets, ultimately closing out the match and securing the 3-1 victory.
