CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- The Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 2 hockey team hit the road to Illinois and Missouri this weekend for a three-game slate against Illinois and Maryville. The Bulldogs swept the weekend, earning a win over the Fighting Illini of Illinois and two wins over the Saints of Maryville.
Adrian opened the weekend with a late-night CCWHA contest at the University of Illinois on Friday in Champaign, where they battled hard to earn a 4-3 win. Goals in the game came from
Bria Hirschman,
Mia Nadeau,
Madison Grimm, and
Lily Storer. Nadeau, Grimm, and Storer each registered a helper in the win as well. In goal,
Emily Tracht was stellar for Adrian, making 43 saves to net the victory.
On Saturday, Adrian moved on down the highway to Chesterfield where they met with the Maryville Saints. A close contest saw the Bulldogs come out victorious once again, downing their opponents, 3-2. Hirschman added two more goals, including one on the man-advantage, while
Ella Zebley scored the eventual game-winner for Adrian.
Jordan Hunt played in net for the Bulldogs and brushed away 26 shots of the 28 she faced.
To wrap the weekend and series with Maryville on Sunday, the Bulldogs continued their hot streak by shutting out the Saints at the Maryville University Hockey Center. A lone goal from
Shelby Goodman, her first as a Bulldog, and 22 saves from Hunt secured the sweep and gave Adrian their fourth win of the season.
The WD2 Bulldogs will take on Michigan State University next weekend in a home-and-home battle. Game one goes on Saturday, November 23 in East Lansing at 2:00 PM. Game two goes at the Arrington Ice Arena on Sunday, November 24 at 4:00 PM.
