EAST LANSING, MICH. –  The Adrian College club softball team concluded their fall season with a thrilling triple-header against Michigan State University this past weekend.
In the opener, the Bulldogs started strong as sophomore Allison Bell drove in the first two runs with an impressive triple. Although Michigan State cut the lead to one in their half of the first inning, freshman Courtney Robertson extended Adrian's lead with a solo home run in the fifth. Despite a hard-fought effort in the seventh inning, the Bulldogs narrowly fell 4-5 to the Spartans.
The Bulldogs' offense came alive in the second game, posting a staggering 19 runs. Sophomore Elizabeth Grady led the charge with four RBIs on two hits, while freshman Kyleigh McClanahan went a perfect 5-for-5, driving in two runs. Freshman Sara Kozel also contributed significantly, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs as Adrian powered their way to a 19-17 victory.
In the final game of the day, Michigan State struck first, scoring two runs in the first inning. Robertson once again delivered for Adrian, driving in four RBIs with a two-run double and a two-run single. However, the Bulldogs couldn't contain the Spartans in the late innings, ultimately falling 6-7 in a tightly contested match up.
Adrian wrapped up the fall season with a 5-14 overall record, showing resilience and growth as they look forward to the spring.
