ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCSA D1 softball team returned to action this weekend at their home AC Softball Field, hosting a triple-header against Bowling Green State University. The Bulldogs swept the day, starting with a 9-7 victory in Game 1, followed by a dominant 16-1 win in the second game. The final match of Sunday's triple-header was a close one, but Adrian held on for a 6-5 win to complete the sweep.
GAME 1
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Bowling Green responded in the third, scoring one run to make it 4-1. The fifth inning saw both teams trading runs: Bowling Green scored two, and Adrian answered with three, bringing the score to 7-3. The Bulldogs continued their offensive momentum in the sixth, adding two more runs to extend their lead to 9-3. Bowling Green pushed back with four runs in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Adrian held on for the 9-7 victory.
Courtney Robertson led the charge, scoring three runs off two hits and two walks. Michelle Huffman contributed with two hits, one walk, and two RBIs. Greer Simpson also had a standout performance, scoring one run off two hits and driving in a team-high three RBIs.
GAME 2
In the second game of the day, Adrian took control early and never looked back. The Bulldogs put up six runs in the first inning, four in the second, and another six in the third, finishing with a commanding 16-1 victory. Bowling Green managed to score one run in the top of the third, but it was too little too late.
Elaina Gordon and Greer Simpson each scored three runs, while Sara Kozel added two. Kaitlyn Fry was dominant in the circle, striking out six batters during the win.
GAME 3
The final game of the triple-header was another tightly contested affair, but the Bulldogs came out on top with a 6-5 victory. Adrian took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning. Bowling Green answered in the third, scoring two runs to tie the game at 2-2. The fourth inning saw both teams adding to the scoreboard: the Falcons scored two runs, but the Bulldogs answered with four of their own, taking a 6-4 lead.
Bowling Green tried to rally in the seventh, scoring one more run, but fell short as Adrian secured the 6-5 victory to complete the sweep. Kyleigh McClanahan had a strong performance, scoring one run off three hits and driving in two RBIs. Kaitlyn Fry added one run off two hits and two RBIs as well. Taylor Campbell was solid in the circle, posting seven strikeouts in the win.

The Bulldogs will return to action on March 29th for a double-header at home against Washtenaw Community College, with the first game set to begin at 2:00 P.M.
