Harris Cup Quarterfinals Preview: Men's NCAA Hockey to Host Concordia Wisconsin to Kick Off NCHA Playoffs

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team is hosting Concordia Wisconsin this weekend in the NCHA Harris Cup Quarterfinals. The Bulldogs come into the conference tournament at the No. 1 seed after winning their third consecutive Peters Cup while the Falcons sit at the No. 8 seed in the tournament.
 
Adrian holds a 19-5-1 record on the season with a 16-2-0 record in conference play. The Bulldogs continue to rank No. 3 in the country in the USCHO.com Coaches Poll and the Pairwise Rankings. Adrian is coming off a big sweep over No. 10 Trine to end the regular season and lock up the Peters Cup.
 
The Bulldogs are averaging 4.4 goals per game this year while allowing 1.9 a game. Adrian has been producing on offense scoring at least five goals in eight of its last ten games. Mathew Rehding leads the team in scoring with 14 goals which goes along with 22 assists for a team-high 36 points. Zachary Heintz has added 12 goals on the season while Ryan Pitoscia and Jacob Suede have 11. Jaden Shields leads the team with 25 assists while Bradley Somers sits with 18 and Suede holds 16.
 
In goal, Adrian will look to Dershahn Stewart who has served as the team's starting goalie all season. Stewart holds a 15-5-1 record on the season with four shutouts. In 22 games this year, Stewart holds a goals against average of 1.84 to go along with a save percentage of 93.5%.
 
Earlier this season, Adrian swept Concordia Wisconsin in a two-game series at home at the start of December. The Bulldogs opened the series with an 8-0 victory with the help of a three goal and two assist night from Heintz, and a five assist night from Somers. In game two, Heintz led the team again with two goals and two assists leading the Bulldogs to a 6-2 victory. Dating back to 2008 when the all-time series began, the Bulldogs hold a 52-0 record against Concordia Wisconsin.
 
Concordia Wisconsin enters the tournament with an 8-17 record on the season and a 6-12 NCHA record. The teams sit on a three-game losing streak after a split with Marian and a sweep by MSOE to end the year. The Falcons are averaging 2.8 goals per game while allowing 4.1 per game. The team's leading scorer is Alex Ochitwa who sits with 11 goals on the year. The Falcons will most likely start Gabe Rosek in goal who holds an 8-15 record on the year with a 4.11 goals against average and a save percentage of 89.6%.
 
Adrian will host the Harris Cup Quarterfinals starting on Friday, February 16 at 3:00 PM followed by game two of the series on Saturday at 1:00 PM. In the event of a series tie, the mini game will follow Saturday's contest to determine which team advances to the semifinals next weekend.
