ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team hosted Lake Forest College in the NCHA Slaats Cup Semifinals on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs came into the game 3-0 on the season against the Foresters and came away with another victory by a score of 6-1. With the win, Adrian advances to the NCHA Slaats Cup Finals next weekend.
The Bulldogs came out scoring as they led 3-0 after the first period.
Tia Lascelle scored the opening goal for the Bulldogs just under two minutes into the game. Later in the period,
Une Bjelland scored to lead 2-0 followed by another Bulldog goal from
Allie Hubenschmidt.
In the second period, Adrian went on to lead 5-0 with two more goals. Bjelland and Lascelle both went on to score their second goals of the game within 45 seconds of each other. In the third period, Lake Forest put themselves on the board to make it 5-1, but was later answered by a goal from
Callie Wollschlager to give Adrian the 6-1 win.
Bjelland and Lascelle finished the night with two goals apiece while
Maya Roy added a pair of assists.
Michaela O'Brien started in goal for Adrian where she totaled nine saves.
The Bulldogs will host the NCHA Slaats Cup Finals on Saturday, March 2 when they face St. Norbert College at 7:00 PM. The winner of the Slaats Cup Finals will earn the NCHA automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
