LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Synchronized Skating National Championships is a prestigious event that brings together the best teams across the United States. This year's competition took place in the glittering city of Las Vegas, where teams showcased their programs on the ice. Adrian College Varsity Senior and Collegiate Synchronized Skating Teams both earned a spot to compete at the 2024 US Synchronized Skating Nationals Championships. Their plane touched down early in the evening on Wednesday, February 21st.
On Thursday, the teams had to put the 3-hour time difference behind them to get to work right away with their first unofficial practice ice sessions. The teams quickly became accustomed to skating in a different venue.
Friday brought more unofficial practice ice sessions for Collegiate to continue to sharpen their programs. That same day, the Senior Team took the opportunity to demonstrate their short program at their official practice ice session. Friday evening, the Senior team stepped on the ice and executed their short program with grace and precision. The Senior team earned an impressive 56.50 points in the completely new choreographed short program to "Suite No.1 in G Major" by Audiomachine.
Saturday arrived as competition day for both teams and both skated their official practice ice session that morning. The Collegiate team skated their program to an Elvis Medley with determination and elegance earning a score of 83.17. Similarly, the Senior team performed their long program, "Fix You" by Cody Fry with undeniable poise earning a score of 109.24 and a total combined programs score of 165.74 points.
Both teams earned their highest scores of the season! Collegiate with a 17-point increase and Senior with a 33-point increase over the course of the season. Adrian College's Senior team secured an impressive pewter medal earning them a spot on the national podium! The entire Adrian College community can take pride in this outstanding achievement on the national stage.
