LIVONIA, Mich. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team would head to Madonna University for a non-conference battle on Thursday evening. The Bulldogs would secure their first victory of the season, 12-6.
Mariana Miller would get the Bulldogs on track with a goal within the first fifteen seconds of the game.
Sarah Gross and
Maggie Bean would both add goals in the first quarter to give Adrian a 3-1 advantage. Gross and Miller would both score in the second quarter as the Bulldogs would head into the halftime break with a 5-2 lead. Madonna would answer to start the second half of play with a goal at the eleven-minute mark. Miller would answer for Adrian with an unassisted goal less than twenty seconds after. Gross, Miller and
Lucia Commare would all add another goal each to end the third quarter. Adrian would lead 9-4 with one quarter remaining.
Jessica Price would score the first goal of the fourth quarter to get Adrian to double digits on the scoreboard. Miller and Price would solidify the win with another goal a piece as the Bulldogs would win, 12-6. Adrian would total 29 shots compared to 17 from Madonna.
To lead Adrian was Miller with five goals and one assist. Gross would add three goals of her own as
Maggie Bean and Commare would take on one goal each. Price would add two more goals for Adrian. Commare would tally four assists on the night with
Addison Krzyzak adding an assist as well. In goal,
Megan Steffey would rack up nine saves on the day for the Bulldogs.
Adrian will travel to Illinois Institute of Technology on Tuesday, March 5 at 5:00 PM!
