MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. -- The No. 3 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team opened its action at the ACHA National Championship Tournament on Wednesday, taking on No. 10 Arizona State in the first round. The Bulldogs would shut the door on the Sun Devils to win 5-0.
Captain
Tess McKerrow opened the scoring halfway through the game for the Bulldogs on the power play after a scoreless opening frame.
Makenzie Villiard would find twine next for Adrian to make it 2-0 after two periods.
Adrian would add three more tallies in the third from
Tyla Turnbull,
Macy Piche, and
Sydney White (PP) to secure the shutout victory. Piche and McKerrow would finish the contest with two assists and three points, while
Taryn Morris also added two assists. Goaltender,
Chloe Burt, stopped every shot she faced for the shutout and to advance her team to the quarterfinal round.
Adrian will have the day off tomorrow and await its opponent for Friday's quarterfinal competition.Â
