RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team begins the Division III Frozen Four on Friday night. The Bulldogs are no strangers to Final Fours as this is the third time in program history that the team has advanced.
Adrian defeated Hamilton College last weekend, 4-1, to advance to the Frozen Four.
Tia Lascelle led the Bulldogs with a hat trick in the game after
Sydnie Crockett netted the opening goal.
Maya Roy added three assists in the effort while
Michaela O'Brien stopped 20 shots between the pipes.
In the NCAA Division III Semifinals, the Bulldogs will take on UW-River Falls, the host school. River Falls is a perfect 29-0-0 on the season and went up against Adrian on November 30 earlier this season. River Falls defeated Adrian 7-5 in the game after a late Bulldog comeback fell short. Adrian sits at 28-2-0 on the year and are currently on a 21-game winning streak. The team's last loss was to River Falls, so the Bulldogs are hunting for revenge.
On the other side of the bracket is Elmira College and Middlebury College. Elmira sits at 22-7-1 on the year while Middlebury holds a record of 18-6-4. Both Elmira and Middlebury advanced to the Frozen Four after upsetting No. 3 Amherst College and No. 2 Plattsburgh State. Adrian faced off against Elmira at the start of the year where the Bulldogs came away with an overtime victory.
All season long, the Bulldogs have been stellar on defense where they've allowed one or less goals in every game on the year except four. In three of those four games, Adrian has allowed two goals, while allowing seven goals to River Falls. Since January 1, the Bulldogs have out-scored their opponents 99-10.
The Bulldogs and UW-River Falls will compete on Friday, March 15 at 8:00 PM EST for a spot in the National Championship game. The National Championship will take place on Sunday, March 17 at 4:00 PM EST. Tickets are sold at the door in River Falls and all video and live stats links are available on
