RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team had another historic season in 2023-24. Unfortunately, the season came to an end on Friday night in the NCAA Frozen Four. The Bulldogs were tasked with No. 1 UW-River Falls who served as host of the Frozen Four. It was a battle to the end, but the Bulldogs season came to a close after a 3-2 loss in the Semifinals.
Tia Lascelle gave Adrian a 1-0 lead in the first period with
Nicole Pietrucha recording an assist. River Falls answered right back with a goal to tie the game 1-1. The Bulldogs scored with under two minutes to play in the second period on a goal from
Une Bjelland to lead 2-1.
Kaleigh Cadorette picked up an assist as the Bulldogs took the lead into the second intermission. UW-River Falls tied the game in the third period before taking a 3-2 lead with under two minutes to play and hold on to win.
Michael O'Brien got the start in goal for Adrian where she finished the night with 42 saves.
The Bulldogs tied the program record for wins in a season at 28.
Une Bjelland finished the season with 60 points which sits third in a single season in program history. Adrian's season was capped with multiple awards including five All-Conference Selections, a NCHA All-Freshman honoree, the NCHA Player of the Year, NCHA Co-Coach of the Year, two AHCA All-Americans, a Laura Hurd Award Finalist, an AHCA Coach of the Year Finalist, and the Elite 90 Award recipient.
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 28-3-0 record and earned a NCHA Regular Season Title and a NCHA Slaats Cup Title while advancing to the NCAA Frozen Four for the third time in program history.
The Bulldogs graduate four fifth-year seniors and will return multiple seniors with a fifth-year option. Adrian will be back next season hungrier than ever to return to the NCAA Frozen Four and make another deep postseason run.
