ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – The Adrian College softball team started their weekend on Saturday with games against Spalding University and Hanover College. The Bulldogs would lose the first game, 4-1 to Spalding University and
In game one Spalding would score first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Spalding would hold onto that two-run lead until they would add to it in the bottom of the sixth inning. Spalding would add another two runs to take a 4-0 lead heading into the last inning of action. Adrian would answer with a run off a single from
Karson Bagelmann.
Meghan Lupu would run in to score to make it a 4-1 game. Spalding would record the last out in the top of the seventh as Adrian would fall, 4-1.
Bagelmann would record two of Adrian's five hits in the game with one RBI. Lupu,
Genna Marasco and
Abbie Hoff would be the other Bulldogs to record a hit as Marasco would record a stolen base.
Abbi Patton would suffer her first loss of the season as she would total three strikeouts and three walks.
In game two a
Maggie Leveille single in the first inning would score
Taylor Gerhardt to give Adrian a 1-0 lead to start the game. A Gerhardt single would score two more Bulldogs in the second inning as
Ava Wolfe would score Leveille in the third inning and
Hailey DeChalk would steal home to give Adrian a 5-0 lead through three innings of action. A three run fourth inning would boost Adrian's lead to 8-0. Hanover would respond with a run in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning, but it was not enough as Adrian would score three runs in the sixth to ultimately win 11-4. Adrian would total 12 hits in the game.
To lead Adrian was Leveille with three hits as Gerhardt, Lupu, Hoff, and
Alaina Craig would all total two hits each. Wolfe would lead with three RBIs.
Macee Schang would earn the win in the circle as she recorded eight strikeouts and walked three.
Adrian will play another two games tomorrow at 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM against Wartburg College and Asbury University!
