TIFFIN, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team traveled to Heidelberg University for a non-conference game on Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs would rally in the ninth inning, but would fall short, 5-4.
Adrian would be held scoreless until the fourth inning. Heidelberg would score the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning to make it, 1-0. Adrian would score in the top of the fourth inning, tying the game up 1-1.
AJ Miranda would lead off with a triple as
Ryan Davis would reach on a fielder's choice and it would end up scoring Miranda from third base. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs would give up three more runs in the bottom of the inning giving Heidelberg a 4-1 lead at the end of the fourth inning. Adrian would try and inch closer by scoring a run in the top of the fifth inning off a double from
David Kedrow and two ground balls advancing Kedrow into score. The Bulldogs would tack on another run in the top of the sixth inning as
Edward Wagner would score
Joe Casale from third base making it 4-3 in favor of the Student Princes. Heidelberg would respond with a run in the bottom of the seventh, gaining a two-run advantage heading into the final two innings. Adrian would earn a walk from
Ryan Davis and
Easton Rogers would hit a single in the top of the ninth inning to try and find life for the Bulldogs. A Kedrow single to left center would score Davis to make it 5-4. Adrian would make it interesting in the ninth inning, but it was not enough as Adrian would lose, 5-4.
To lead Adrian was Davis, Rogers, and Kedrow with two hits apiece. Adrian would draw four walks and have three different players with an RBI on the night.
Robert Leonard would earn the loss for the Bulldogs as five different pitchers were on the mound tonight.
Adrian will travel to Wittenberg University on Friday, March 22 at 5:00 PM for their next contest!
