Jaxon Clark Shines on the Mound as Baseball Defeats Alma to Open Conference Play

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team opened MIAA conference play on Thursday afternoon with the opening game of the series against Alma College. The Bulldogs picked up the series opening win by a 10-5 score.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Alma jumped on the board in the top of the first after a Bulldog error led off the game.
  • Trailing 1-0, the Bulldogs responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 5-1. David Kedrow was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded which was followed by a grand slam from Ryan Davis.
  • Alma struck again in the second inning which was later answered by Adrian with a two-run third inning. Davis doubled in a run followed by an RBI single from Easton Rogers to lead 7-2.
  • Adrian scored again in the fifth inning on an Alma error before adding another run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Jack Boike.
  • AJ Miranda singled in a run in the eighth inning to lead 10-2.
  • Alma sparked a run late on a two-run homer and an RBI single in the ninth, but couldn't complete the comeback giving Adrian a 10-5 victory.
TOP DAWGS
  • Davis, Miranda, and Nic Bruder all finished the day with two hits apiece. Davis led the Bulldogs with five RBIs.
  • Adrian stole five bases as a team during Thursday's game.
  • Jaxon Clark earns his second win of the season after throwing eight innings allowing one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts.
UP NEXT
The Bulldogs will wrap up the series with Alma College on Friday, March 29 on the road in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
