LEESBURG, Florida -- The Adrian College softball team started their week long spring trip to Florida on Sunday against Alfred University and the University of Mount Union. The Bulldogs would suffer their opening game to Alfred, 3-1. Game two against Mount Union would eventually be postponed in the bottom of the 5th inning due to weather.
In game one, Adrian and Alfred would be scoreless through the first two innings. Alfred would answer first with a home run to center field.
Karson Bagelmann would get on base from a bunt for a hit down the third baseline. Bagelmann would steal second base and the next pitch
Brynn McKay would hit a hard grounder towards second base as Alfred second baseman would earn an error and Bagelmann would score from second to tie the game up, 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning Alfred would strike again and score two more runs to take the lead, 3-1. Both teams would be held scoreless the rest of the game and the Bulldogs would suffer the loss, 3-1. Adrian would total two hits as Alfred would total five.Â
Ava Ferrarelli and Bagelmann would be the lone Bulldogs with base hits as McKay drove in the only run for Adrian.
Macee Schang would earn the loss for the Bulldogs.Â
The Bulldogs would start game two against the Purple Raiders, but due to weather circumstances the game would be postponed to a later date (TBD). Adrian would be down 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Peyton Russell would get the Bulldogs first hit of the game with a single to right field.
Taylor Gerhardt would pinch hit and reach base on a fielder's choice and eventually steal second.
Ava Wolfe would be up to bat with a 2-2 count and one out if the game gets made up on a later date.Â
Adrian will be right back in action tomorrow against Otterbein University at 9 AM and Lebanon Valley College at 11:15 AM!
