Softball's Bats Start to Come Alive as the Bulldogs would Split on Day Two

CLERMONT, Florida – The Adrian College softball team started day two of their Florida Trip on Monday morning with a game against Otterbein University and Lebanon Valley College. The Bulldogs would get the bats going as they would defeat Otterbein 8-1. Adrian would have a tough loss to Lebanon Valley by a score of 6-5 in their second game of the day.

In game one Adrian would score one run in each of the first three innings. In the first, Karson Bagelmann would attempt to steal third, but the catcher would make a bad throw to the third baseman as Bagelmann would hop up out of her slide and cross home plate for the first run of the game. In the second and with the bases loaded, Taylor Gerhardt would hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Ava Wolfe from third. In the third inning, Wolfe would hit a hard ground ball to the first baseman and be called out, but Makenzi Johnson would swing around home to go up, 3-0. It was a quite rest of the game until the sixth inning when the Bulldogs would tack on five more runs in the inning and would earn their first win of the season, 8-1! Adrian would total 13 hits in the game as our defense and pitching would only allow five total hits.

Bagelmann would lead the Bulldogs going 3-4 with a walk and two stolen bases. Wolfe would add two hits and two RBI's as eight other Bulldogs would each earn a hit. Abbi Patton would total five strikeouts in the seven innings she pitched for Adrian.

In game two it was scoreless until Adrian put a four spot on Lebanon Valley in the third inning led by a single from Bagelmann which led to Genna Marasco scoring on the play. Meghan Lupu, Gerhadt, and Bagelmann would also score in the third inning as Adrian would go up, 4-0. A triple from Lebanon Valley score three runs to bring the score back to within one run. In the Bulldogs at bat in the bottom of the fourth, Marasco would end up scoring on a throwing error from the Lebanon Valley catcher. Lebanon Valley would tally one run in the top of the sixth as the score would be, 5-4 in favor of Adrian. With two outs in the top of the seventh Lebanon Valley would rally together and score two runs to take a 6-5 lead. McKay would get a hit in the bottom of the seventh to give life to the Bulldogs, but it was not enough as Adrian would fall, 6-5.

Bagelmann would go 2-4 with two RBI's, Gerhardt would go 2-3 with two RBIs, as Lupu, and Marasco would both go 2-3 as well. Macee Schang would take the loss for Adrian in the circle as she totaled three strikeouts in the seven innings.
