CLERMONT, Florida – The Adrian College softball team had a triple header in store for Thursday. The Bulldogs would face Concordia Chicago University, Johnson & Wales University, and New England College and defeat them all to improve their winning streak to five games and go 3-0 on the day.
In game one Concordia Chicago would score first in the second inning making it 1-0.
Taylor Gerhardt would hit a single to right center to score
Karson Bagelmann to tie it 1-1. The next batter for Adrian,
Maggie Leveille, would hit a double down the left field line to score Gerhardt to go up 2-1 in the third inning. The Bulldogs would hold Concordia Chicago scoreless the rest of the game to win, 2-1.
Allison TenHove would get her first win of the season in the circle.
Game two was a thriller to say the least. Johnson and Wales would start off in the first inning scoring the first run of the game. Adrian would answer in the third inning with a Gerhardt triple to score
Flesia Borck and
Genna Marasco to take a 2-1 lead. Johnson and Wales would rack up four runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-2 lead. Another hit from Leveille would score two for Adrian to close the lead in the fifth inning. Johnson and Wales would add two runs in the top of the seventh to create a three-run lead heading into the bottom of the seventh for the Bulldogs at bat. The first four batters for the Bulldogs would reach base. A Leveille double would score Bagelmann and Gerhardt to bring the score to 7-6 in favor of Johnson and Wales. An
Ava Ferrarelli single would tie the game as
Makenzi Johnson would score in the process. Pinch runner
Alaina Craig would be on third base as
Meghan Lupu would enter the batter's box with one out. Lupu would hit a high fly ball to left field as Craig would score from third for the walk off. Adrian would defeat Johnson and Wales, 7-6.
Macee Schang would get her second win of the season.
In game three, six different Adrian players would record two hits in the game. Adrian would score three runs in the top of the second inning for the first runs of the game. New England would score two runs of their own in the bottom half of the third, bringing the score to 3-2. In the fourth inning the Bulldogs would score 13 runs to blow open the lead. Adrian would hold off New England for the next two innings to win the game, 16-2 in five innings.
Abbi Patton would snag her third win of the season to stay perfect.
Throughout the three games, Leveille would lead Adrian with six hits on the day followed by five total hits from Bagelmann and Gerhardt. Lupu would add four hits to for the Bulldogs.
Hailey DeChalk and Ferrarelli both would record three hits. Marasco and Borck would both get two hits in the three games played. Adrian would have 10 stolen bases on the day scoring a total of 26 runs and recording 36 hits as a team. In TenHove's win in the circle she would strike five players out as Schang would record her first save of the season. In Schang's win she would strike seven players out on 111 pitches. In Patton's win she would total three strikeouts while walking two.
Adrian will finish their Florida Trip playing two games tomorrow at 10 AM and 12:15 PM against Suffolk University and Wentworth Institute of Technology!
