LEESBURG, Florida – The Adrian College softball team would finish their Florida Trip on Friday afternoon with two games. The Bulldogs would beat Suffolk University, 10-2, as well as defeating Wentworth Institute of Technology, 10-2 in five innings. Adrian would end their spring trip on a seven-game win streak!
In game one, lead off batter,
Karson Bagelmann would reach first after getting hit by a pitch to start the game.
Taylor Gerhardt would hit a triple over the centerfielder's head to give Adrian a 1-0 lead.
Maggie Leveille would hit a sac fly to score Gerhardt to make it a 2-0 game.
Ava Wolfe,
Meghan Lupu, and
Genna Marasco would all record hits as Adrian would take a 4-0 lead to end the top of the first inning. Adrian would tack on four more runs in the third inning as Wolfe,
Flesia Borck, Gerhardt, and Leveille would all earn hits to give the Bulldogs an 8-0 lead. Suffolk would respond by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth. It was scoreless until Adrian would score two more runs in the top of the seventh from a Lupu double and Bagelmann reaching off of an error to make it 10-2. Adrian would beat Suffolk 10-2 in their first game of the day. The Bulldogs recorded 12 hits to Suffolk's eight hits.
Ava Wolfe would go 3-3 with an RBI to lead Adrian as Gerhardt and Lupu both recorded two hits each.
Maggie Leveille would lead with three RBI's as Bagelmann would total two stolen bases.
Abbi Patton would snag the win for the Bulldogs in the circle with two strikeouts in two innings pitched.
Game two started off with Wentworth scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Adrian would match Wentworth with two runs of their own. A single from Leveille and a sacrifice fly from
Hailey DeChalk scored Bagelmann and Gerhardt two tie the game up at two. The Bulldogs would hold Wentworth scoreless the rest of the way. Adrian would tack on three runs in the second inning from a Gerhardt single and another hit from Leveille to give Adrian a 5-2 lead. Leveille would record her second double of the game to start a five-run inning for the Bulldogs. Adrian would go on to win 10-2 in five innings to increase their winning streak to seven games!
Leveille would lead Adrian with three hits and four RBIs as Gerhardt would go 2-2 with three runs scored. Bagelmann would get two hits as DeChalk would add two RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Abbi Patton would get her second win of the day as she would record one strikeout and allowing seven hits.
Adrian will head back up north as they will have their home opener against Manchester University for a double header at 3:30 PM and 5:30PM!
