NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals Preview: Women's Hockey Drops the Puck with Hamilton Saturday at 3PM

ADRIAN, Mich. – The NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Tournament begins on Saturday afternoon as the Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team hosts Hamilton College in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Bulldogs rank #5 in the latest Pairwise Ranking while Hamilton College sits at #7.  Adrian holds a 27-2-0 record on the year while Hamilton sits at 16-6-6.
 
The Bulldogs are on a 20-game winning streak entering the NCAA Tournament. Adrian won the NCHA Regular Season finishing with a perfect 16-0-0 record. The last time the Bulldogs finished undefeated in the NCHA Conference season, the team went on to the NCAA National Championship game. After the regular season, Adrian finished 4-0 in the NCHA Slaats Cup Tournament to claim the conference's automatic bid.
 
The Bulldogs are led by the NCHA Player of the Year, Une Bjelland. Bjelland broke the program's and conference's record for career points as she currently sits at 183 points. This season, Bjelland has appeared in 29 games scoring 27 goals with 30 assists for 57 points. Maya Roy, Jocelin Hudanish, and Tia Lascelle all have 12 goals on the season while Karmen Anderson sits with ten. Roy added 24 assists on the year followed by Anderson with 23.
 
Adrian has split time in goal this season between Annie Gilbert and Michaela O'Brien. Gilbert holds a perfect 11-0-0 record with five shutouts this season. She holds a 1.04 goals against average with a .943 save percentage. Adrian has looked toward O'Brien down the stretch who sits 14-2-0 on the season with six shutouts, a 0.77 goals against average, and a .958 save percentage.
 
As a team, the Bulldogs average 5.2 goals per game while allowing just 0.9 per game. The team has taken advantage on the power play with a conversion rate of 27.9% while their penalty kill has held strong with a penalty kill percentage of 91.4%.
 
Hamilton earned one of the NCAA Tournament at-large bids after losing in the NESCAC Tournament Championship. Hamilton upset No. 3 Amherst in the semifinals before falling to No. 7 Middlebury, 4-0 in the championship. In Hamilton's first round game of the NCAA Tournament, the team came away with a 2-1 overtime victory to advance to the Quarterfinals and face Adrian.
 
Hamilton averages 2.0 goals per game while allowing 1.3 per game. The Continentals at 21.9% on the power play and are also 91.4% on the penalty kill. Claire McGennis leads Hamilton with 13 goals on the year while Sami Quackenbush leads the team with 13 assists. Teagan Brown has served as the team's primary goaltender holding an 11-4-4 record with five shutouts, a 1.13 goals against average, and a .951 save percentage. In Hamilton's first round game, Brown finished the overtime victory with 29 saves.
 
Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinals game is a rematch of the 2023 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals in which the Bulldogs hosted Hamilton. Hamilton shocked Adrian last season defeating the Bulldogs 2-0 to advance to the NCAA Frozen Four.
 
Adrian and Hamilton will drop the puck for the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 8 at 3:00 PM EST at the Arrington Ice Arena. Gates will open one hour prior to puck drop and tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE.
