ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Softball team hosted Alma College for a conference doubleheader on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs came away with two victories, winning game one 5-1 and game two 5-1. Adrian honored five seniors including
Karson Bagelmann,
Flesia Borck,
Allie TenHove,
Ava Ferrarelli, and Becca Chenoweth.
In game one Adrian scored first in the bottom of the first inning from a
Hailey DeChalk single scoring Bagelmann. Alma in the top of the fourth inning tied the game up, 1-1. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Bulldogs exploded for four runs. A single from
Peyton Russell scoring Mackenzi Johnson and a three-run double from
Maggie Leveille to go up, 5-1. Adrian held the Scots scoreless the rest of the way winning, 5-1.
Bagelmann went 1-2 with two runs scored as Leveille added three RBI's.
Meghan Lupu and
Genna Marasco both recorded a stolen base as
Macee Schang earned the win in the circle, tallying five strikeouts.
A similar outcome is in store for game two. In the top of the first inning Bagelmann scored and then a single from Leveille scored Gerhardt to put the Bulldogs up, 2-0. Adrian answered again in the top of the third inning with a single from Gerhardt and a single from DeChalk scoring two more runs. The Scots in the bottom of the fifth inning scored their first run of the game making it 4-1. In the top of the seventh a single to left field from Leveille allowed Bagelmann to score again. Adrian takes game two of the doubleheader, 5-1.
Leveille led with two hits and two RBI's as Bagelmann crossed the plate three times for Adrian. Bagelmann also totaled two stolen bases as
Abbi Patton received the win for game two, striking five out in the seven innings.
The Bulldogs will travel to Hope College on Wednesday, April 17 for their next conference doubleheader!
