GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team began its three-game MIAA series with Calvin University on Friday afternoon. The game was a 1-1 battle through five innings before the bats came alive for the Bulldogs as they posted 13 runs for the game to defeat the Knights 13-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Easton Rogers put the Bulldogs on the board in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single up the middle.
- Calvin responded in the bottom of the inning before Adrian added three in the sixth.
- Jack Boike drove in a run after reaching on a fielder's choice scoring Jaxon McGuigan on a head first slide at the plate. Later in the inning, Nic Bruder singled in a pair of runs to lead 4-1.
- In the seventh, the Bulldogs added six runs to lead 10-1. Boike started the scoring with a 2-RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly from Jakob Charles, an RBI single from Bruder, and a 2-RBI single from AJ Miranda.
- In the top of the eighth, Adrian put the game into the mercy rule after a three-run homer from Linken Hayward to win 13-1.
TOP DAWGS
- Bruder and Hayward led the team with three RBIs apiece while Miranda finished with two.
- Bruder recorded three hits on the afternoon to extend his hitting streak to eight games. In those eight games, seven of them are multi-hit games. Boike also finished the day with three hits for Adrian.
- Charles got the start on the mound for Adrian where he earned his sixth win of the season after throwing seven innings allowing one run on four hits.

The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround and host Calvin University on Saturday, April 20 at Nicolay Field for the series finale doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
