NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Adrian College softball team traveled to Saint Mary's College for a MIAA conference double header on Thursday afternoon. Adrian grabbed game one from the Belles, winning 8-2. Adrian ended up taking game two as well by a score of 8-2.
In game one the Bulldogs scored first in the top of the first inning from a sacrifice fly by
Maggie Leveille to score
Karson Bagelmann. Adrian tacked on another four runs in the second inning off a single from Bagelmann and a single from Leveille to go up 5-0. A single from
Taylor Gerhardt, and a sacrifice fly from
Hailey DeChalk scored two more Adrian a 7-0 lead. Adrian held the Belles scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored two runs to make it 7-2 in favor of the Bulldogs. Adrian added another run in the top of the seventh off a
Meghan Lupu sacrifice fly to solidify the 8-2 victory.
Bagelmann, Leveille, and
Peyton Russell all totaled two hits as Baglemann had a team-high three runs scored. Leveille led with three RBI's as Adrian stole five bases in game one.
Macee Schang went the distance and picked up the win to give her double digits in the win column for the season. Schang allowed six hits while striking out seven.
In game two Adrian got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning off a single from Leveille and an RBI from DeChalk and Russell each. A
Makenzi Johnson double up the middle allowed another run for Adrian to cross the plate. The Belles scored a run in the third inning as well as the fourth inning to close the lead to 4-2. It was all Adrian after that as
Paige Stein earned an RBI to score
Genna Marasco to go up 5-2 in the fifth. Then in the sixth inning DeChalk gets an RBI for getting hit by a pitch, a Russell single, and another RBI for Stein gave Adrian an 8-2 lead. The Bulldogs take game two from Saint Mary's with the score being 8-2.
Bagelmann and Leveille stay hot for Adrian as they record two more hits. Stein, Russell, and DeChalk all total two RBI's as Bagelmann leads with three stolen bases.
Abbi Patton snags another win pitching all seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out five.
Adrian will travel to Capital University on Tuesday, April 30 for a non-conference double header at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM!
