ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team opened its series with Trine University on Wednesday afternoon at Nicolay Field. After a schedule change due to weather, the series opener was moved to Adrian. The Bulldogs went on to 10-run rule the Thunder as they came away with an 11-1 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adrian jumped on the board in the first inning scoring a run on an RBI single from Nic Bruder before taking advantage of a Trine error to lead 2-0.
- The Bulldogs added a run in the second inning after the Trine catcher threw the ball into centerfield trying to throw out Cam Oliver who picked up a stolen base. Philip Vilardo scored from third on the error.
- Adrian scored another run in the third on a wild pitch to lead 4-0.
- Trine's lone run came in the top of the fourth which was quickly answered on an RBI single from Jakob Charles.
- The Bulldogs added four runs in the fifth inning on a 2-RBI single from Jack Boike followed by an RBI single from Joe Casale and an RBI single from Charles to lead 9-1.
- Adrian ended the game early on the 10-run rule with the help of a Boike triple before scoring on the play after a Trine error. Daniel Shipman pinch hit where he walked and scored on a double from Bruder to win 11-1.
TOP DAWGS
- Casale, Bruder, and Charles all finished the day with three hits while Oliver, Boike, and David Kedrow added two. The team totaled for 17 hits on the afternoon.
- Charles, Bruder, and Boike led the team with two RBIs each.
- Jaxon Clark went the distance on the mound picking up his third win of the season by throwing a complete game. Clark finished with seven innings pitched allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts.

Adrian will continue MIAA conference play this weekend when they travel to The University of Olivet on Friday, April 5 for a game at 4:00 PM followed by a doubleheader at home on Saturday starting at 1:00 PM.
