ADDISON, Mich. – The Adrian College men's and women's rowing teams hosted the Devil's Lake Invitational on Sunday morning at the Adrian College Boathouse. The Bulldogs hosted MSOE, Michigan State, and Marietta College where Adrian came away with two first place finishes. Each race was 2,000-meters long.
Adrian placed first in the Men's Varsity 4+ with a time of 6:37.14, and the Women's Varsity 4+ with a time of 7:51.89. Earlier in the day, the Bulldogs placed third in the Women's Novice 4+ with a time of 9:22.25 and a second-place finish in the Women's Varsity 2X at 9:44.24. In the Men's Varsity 2X, the Bulldogs placed third at 9:24.33.
The Bulldogs competed in the Women's Varsity 8+ for the first time since 2019. Unfortunately, Adrian did not finish the race after one of the team's oars came loose from the boat forcing them to end early. Adrian was in second place with roughly 150 meters to go in the Varsity 8+ when the oar came loose.
"This weekend was a really promising showing for us as a program," said head coach
Lucie Roy. "With victories in the most competitive events on both teams, it showed that our top end is incredibly strong. We are a relatively young squad, so these results show a ton of promise, not only for the rest of this season, but for next year as well."
Both teams will compete in Cherry Hill, New Jersey this weekend on April 13-14 for the Knecht Cup.
