Men's Lacrosse Season Comes to a Close After Falling to Hope in Conference Semifinals

HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's Lacrosse team fell to No. 1 seed Hope College, 20-6, on Wednesday night in the MIAA Conference Tournament semifinals, ending the team's 2024 campaign.

The Bulldogs entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the conference, setting up a match-up with the top-seed Flying Dutchmen. It was Hope who exploded on offense on Wednesday, scoring double digits in the first half.

Adrian first found twine in the third quarter thanks to a goal from Michael Jonas, his 30th of the season, assisted by Cameron Reed. The Bulldogs would score five more goals in the fourth quarter, all unanswered, bringing the score to 19-6 before the Dutchmen added one more to make it a final. Alec Winegar scored first before Sam Van Eekeren tallied his first college goal. Jonas and Derek Hassel added the following goals for the Bulldogs, while Winegar added another, this time from Bowen Sparks. Jonas would end the night with two goals and two apples to lead the road team.

Sam Spangler played three quarters between the pipes for Adrian, allowing 16 goals and making 17 saves in the defeat. Owen Smith also saw action in goal for the Bulldogs, turning aside two shots and allowing four goals.

The Bulldogs' Men's Lacrosse team close the 2024 season with an 8-8 overall record.
