Baseball Falls in Game One of Super Regional on Ninth Inning Walk-Off

ASHLAND, Va. – The Adrian College baseball team opened the NCAA Super Regional at Randolph-Macon College on Friday afternoon. Adrian fell in game one of the Super Regional after a 6-5 walk-off loss after a 3:10 rain delay. The Bulldogs will need to win game two tomorrow to keep the series alive.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bulldogs struck first in the top of the first inning scratching a pair of runs across the plate. Nic Bruder started the game with a leadoff single before scoring on a sacrifice fly from AJ Miranda. Later in the inning, Edward Wagner drove in a run on an RBI double.
  • Jack Boike extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning on an RBI triple to right centerfield.
  • Randolph-Macon got on the board in the bottom of the second where they scored a pair of runs to make it 3-2.
  • Adrian extended its lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Ryan Davis and later added another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Easton Rogers to lead 5-2.
  • Randolph-Macon hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one-run game again.
  • Randolph-Macon struck again in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, 5-5.
  • With nobody out and a runner on in the bottom of the eighth, the game went into a three hour and ten-minute delay due to rain and lightning.
  • Adrian put a pair of runners on in the top of the ninth before a double play ended the inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Randolph-Macon loaded the bases and hit a walk-off single to win the game, 6-5.
  • Adrian finished with 12 hits as a team with two hits from Joe Casale, AJ Miranda, Edward Wagner, and Ryan Davis.
  • Jakob Charles got the start on the mound where he threw 6.1 innings allowing five runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
UP NEXT
The Bulldogs will return for game two of the NCAA Super Regionals at 11:00 AM tomorrow morning. With a Bulldog win, it will force game three of the series after.
