UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH. - Adrian College Club Softball had an impressive weekend, sweeping a doubleheader against Delta College.
In the first game, the Bulldogs erupted for 11 runs. Junior Jocelyn Schuster ignited the scoring in the second inning, followed by freshman Michelle Hoffman driving in freshman Greer Simpson to secure Adrian's second run. Freshman Sarah Kozal reached base on an error, allowing freshman Kyleigh McClanahan to score and give the Bulldogs a narrow lead.
The inning took a decisive turn when Schuster launched a three-run homer, extending Adrian's lead to five. In the sixth inning, freshman Courtney Robertson hit a key single, bringing home junior Alexis Hart-Bucher, while freshman Kaitlin Fry followed suit, scoring Hart-Bucher again. Sophomore Allison Bell contributed two hits, and Robertson with two hits and three RBIs. McClanahan also made her mark with two hits and two RBIs, helping the Bulldogs clinch the first game 11-9, with a total of 13 hits and 10 RBIs as a team.
The second game saw the Bulldogs continue their hot streak, scoring four runs in the first inning. Bell excelled, going 2-for-2 with an RBI, while sophomore Elizabeth Grady went a perfect 3-for-3, driving in two runs. Adrian maintained control throughout the game, ultimately scoring eight runs on 11 hits and seven RBIs.
Adrian College will host Mott Community College on October 2, with the first game scheduled for 5:00 PM.
