Box Score 2 ADRIAN MICH. - The Adrian College club softball team kicked off their home campaign this Friday against Mott Community College.
In the first game, sophomore Taylor Campbell took to the circle for the Bulldogs. Freshman Kaitlyn Fry made an early impact, recording the team's first hit in the bottom of the second and finishing the game with a solid 2-for-2 performance. Despite their efforts, the Bulldogs fell 0-17.
The second game saw a spirited comeback from Adrian. Freshman Courtney Robertson ignited the offense with a double to left field, bringing home freshman Michelle Huffman for the team's first run. The excitement continued in the following inning as freshman Kyleigh McClanahan added another run with a timely single.
Then, in a thrilling turn of events, junior Alexis Hart-Bucher hit an inside-the-park home run, driving in three runs and tying the game. The momentum kept building as freshman Greer Simpson followed suit with a key single in the bottom of the fifth, narrowing the deficit by two runs. In a nail-biting finish, freshman Sarah Kozel drove home a run late in the seventh with a sacrifice. However, the Bulldogs fell short, concluding the second game with a score of 12-7.
Adrian club softball are back in action at home on Friday, Oct 11 with the first pitch of the double header vs. Henry Ford Community College set for 5:00 PM.
