MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Adrian College cornhole team competed at the ACL Collegiate Cornhole National Championship over the weekend in South Carolina. The Bulldogs had a successful weekend led by a run in the Double Bracket in which the duo of
Morgan Blonde and
Alex Weaver advanced to the Semifinals which aired on ESPN.
Blonde and Weaver battled through the bracket and defeated fellow teammates
Abigail Trepkowski and
Gage McMillan to make the Semifinals. Trepkowski and McMillan went on to finish fifth in the tournament. Weaver and Blonde battled a tough team from Winthrop and fell in the Semifinals. The Bulldogs battled in the Team Event which also aired on ESPN+. The Team Event consisted of two singles matches and one double match with each counting as one point. Blonde, Weaver, Trepkowski, and McMillan complied the team that finished the tournament in second place.
Adrian competed on Saturday in the Singles Bracket in which they had four throwers finish 3-1 in the 90-person bracket. Unfortunately, late in the bracket, four Bulldogs met up with each other with Trepkowkski coming out of the group and later placing fifth in the bracket.
The Doubles match marked the second time that Adrian College cornhole has appeared on an ESPN broadcast since the program started three seasons ago. Trepkowski's fifth place finish marked the deepest finish in program history in the Singles Bracket at the ACL Collegiate Championships where she finished one win shy of the ESPN broadcast.
