ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCSA Division I softball team traveled to Grand Valley State University on Sunday for a tripleheader, where the Bulldogs battled hard in all three contests but ultimately came up just short each time.
In game one, Adrian managed to push across two runs in a tightly contested matchup. Michelle Huffman led the way, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Gianna Evans added a 1-for-2 performance with an RBI of her own. Despite their efforts, the Bulldogs fell in the opener.
Game two turned into an offensive slugfest, with the Bulldogs putting up 11 runs in a back-and-forth battle. Kaitlyn Fry had a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Huffman continued her strong day, finishing 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Elaine Gordon contributed a 2-for-3 showing with two RBIs and a run scored. Despite the offensive explosion, Adrian narrowly dropped the second game, 12-11.
The final game mirrored the energy of the second, with both teams trading runs throughout. The Bulldogs posted 10 runs on 11 hits, highlighted by big games from Haley Holmes and Hayden Cutler. Holmes went 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Cutler matched her with a 3-for-4 effort, adding two runs scored and three RBIs. Once again, Adrian's late push came up just short, as they fell by a single run to close out the day.
