ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 2 hockey team battled Ohio State and Liberty in three game weekend series in a couple of hard fought games, falling 7-1 at Ohio State Friday, 8-1 hosting Ohio State Saturday, and 5-0 hosting Liberty Sunday.
Friday evening, the Bulldogs headed down to Columbus, Ohio to face conference opponinate, Ohio State. Adrian held ground on the Buckeys halfway through the first period, until Ohio State struck twice to close out the first period. The Buckeys went on to score three more unanswered goals in the second period, making it 5-0. Hannah Berenson braking the Buckeys goaltender's shutout. The Buckeys went on to score one more goal to close out the game. Junior goaltender,
Brianna Rickard was in net for the Bulldogs, facing 70 shots, saving 63 of those shots.
The Bulldogs hosted Ohio state Saturday afternoon, with the Bulldogs getting out shot 53-37. Sophomore goaltender
Chalee Ridenour saved 45 of those 53 shots on goal from the Buckeys. The Bulldogs were able to hold off the Buckeys scoring until the last minute and a half of the first period to give Ohio State momentum heading into the second period. Ohio State came out hard and fast in the second period scoring five of their goals then. Although, sophomore defensman
Morgan McKeraghan popped one in for the Bulldogs in the second period. The Buckeys went on to score two more goals in the third period to close out the game.
To close out Adrian's weekend, they hosted Liberty University Sunday afternoon. Liberty out shooting the Bulldogs 49-14. Junior goaltender
Emily Tracht in net for the Bulldogs making 44 saves on the Flames 49 shots. The Flames scored with 19 seconds left in the first period to bring momentum to their bench heading into the second period. The Flames went on to score two more goals in the second period and two more in the third.
The WD2 Bulldogs are now 0-5 overall on their season and will look to regather this week before they head to Annapolis, Maryland Saturday and Sunday for the Crabpot Showcase hosted by the U.S. Navel Academy. They will face Navy on Saturday for an 11:00am puck drop and Rowan on Sunday morning for a 10:00am puck drop.
