GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Adrian College men's soccer team battled through a scoreless first half before Calvin University erupted for five second-half goals, handing the Bulldogs a 5–0 defeat Wednesday night at Zuidema Field.
The Bulldogs held the Knights in check for the first 45 minutes behind a solid defensive effort and four saves from goalkeeper Eli Sizemore. However, Calvin found its rhythm early in the second half. Calvin opened the scoring in the 47th minute, followed quickly by two more goals to give Calvin a 3–0 lead before the hour mark.
Calvin added two more tallies late in the 78th minute and in the 86th to seal the win.
Offensively, Adrian managed eight total shots, including attempts on goal from Bryan Baker and Nick Miller, but couldn't solve Calvins keeper.
With the loss, Adrian moves to 5–12–1 (3–3–1 MIAA), while Calvin improves to 13–3–1 (5–1–1 MIAA). The Bulldogs now turn their attention to postseason play as conference tournament matchups are finalized.
