ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA Division I baseball team hosted Indiana University over the weekend to wrap up its fall season. The Bulldogs swept Saturday's doubleheader, winning both games by a score of 4-0. The series finale scheduled for Sunday was postponed to the spring due to snow.
In game one, Adrian jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Matthew Clayton drove in the opening run with a sacrifice fly before Carson Boike reached on an error to score another. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the sixth inning as Tyler Hall scored on a fielder's choice and Logan Hoyt-Tracy brought in a run on another Indiana error. Jesse Leyva led the team with two hits. Connor Reneau earned the win on the mound, throwing four scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out four. Colton Hicks and Brock Hudik each tossed scoreless relief outings.
In the second game, Adrian once again shut out the Hoosiers with a 4-0 victory. The Bulldogs broke through in the fifth inning when Hudik drove in a run on a fielder's choice. In the sixth, Damon Harriss added a two-RBI single before Hoyt-Tracy followed with an RBI single to extend the lead. Harriss led the Bulldogs with two hits in the game, while Ayden Pate threw a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits and striking out three across seven innings.
The Bulldogs conclude their fall campaign with a 9-5 record and will return to action in the spring with their schedule to be announced.
