ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team opened up the series with Aurora University at home on Friday evening. The Bulldogs landed another shutout as they defeated the Spartans, 4-0.
The first period went scoreless for both sides as Adrian fought off two penalties in the opening period. In the second period,
Elizabeth Sturgeon put the Bulldogs on the board marking her first collegiate goal.
Courtney Ben scored on the power play to lead 2-0 which was later followed by a goal from
Ava Mattaliano to make it 3-0 entering the third. In the third period,
Maddy Loe added a goal for that Bulldogs that went unassisted to win 4-0.
Adrian outshot Aurora 36-21 as a team.
Kiera Stack got the start in goal where she recorded her third consecutive shutout while making 21 saves.
Adrian returns to action tomorrow to conclude the series with Aurora at 3:00 PM.
