IOWA LAKES, Iowa – The Adrian College cornhole team competed in a tournament qualifier in Iowa over the weekend. The Bulldogs claimed three National Bids to the ACL Collegiate Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over New Year's.
Zac Blaylock and
Alex Weaver led the Bulldogs in the Singles Rounders as they both recorded a 4-0 record. In the Singles Bracket Play, Weaver came out ahead as Champion earning on of the bids as he finished perfect on the afternoon. Blaylock placed second in the Bracket with a 3-1 record.
In the Doubles Rounders, Blaylock and
Ethan Freeman went 4-0 to claim one of the top seeds for the Bracket. In Bracket play, the duo went 3-0 and earned a National Bid with the first-place finish. Weaver and
Abigail Trepkowski went 3-1 in the Doubles Rounders and went on to place second in the bracket.
For the team event, the Bulldogs locked in a National Bid with a first-place finish. The team of Weaver, Trepkowski,
Carson Ashley and
Abigail Sawicki earned the trip to nationals with a 3-0 record. The second Adrian team placed third consisting of Blaylock, Freeman,
Mason Foote, and
Aidan Sicilia.
Blaylock led the team with an overall 14-1 record on the day while Weaver finished 14-2, Freeman at 12-2, and Trepkowski and 11-4.
Adrian will return to action on Saturday, December 6 when they host a home tournament at the Sweebe Family Indoor Athletic Center.
