DETROIT, Mich. – The Adrian College cornhole team continued its strong start to the season with another impressive showing at the ACL Regional in Detroit over the weekend. The Bulldogs competed against more than 90 players, including over 10 ACL professionals.
Round robin play determined bracket placement, with Adrian advancing four duos to the Tier 1 bracket. The pairs of Aidan Sicilia and Jackson Newman, along with Alex Weaver and Abigail Trepkowski, both finished 3-1 in round robin action. In bracket play, Trepkowski and Weaver went 3-2 to finish fifth overall. In the Tier 2 bracket, Zac Blaylock and Mason Foote placed seventh.
In singles competition, five Bulldogs qualified for the Tier 1 bracket, led by Alex Weaver, who placed fifth overall. Weaver earned a notable win over the No. 16-ranked professional before falling to two other pros, including the eventual bracket champion. In the Tier 2 bracket, Jackson Newman placed fourth, while in Tier 3, Abigail Sawicki earned a runner-up finish and Carson Ashley placed fifth.
The Bulldogs will return to Detroit for their next ACL Regional on Saturday, November 8.
