HOLLAND, Mich. -- Adrian College men's soccer saw its postseason run come to an end Wednesday night, falling 4–1 to top-seeded Hope College in the MIAA Semifinal at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Hope opened the scoring early when they found the back of the net in the third minute. The Flying Dutchmen controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Bulldogs 10–0, but held only a 1–0 advantage at the break.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 59th minute when the Flying Dutchmen struck twice. Adrian battled back as Kyle Jennings buried a shot in the 75th minute to make it 2–1, giving the Bulldogs life late in the match.
Momentum quickly shifted, however, when Adrian's Ryan Goeke was issued a red card moments later, resulting in a Hope penalty kick that they converted to extend the lead to 3–1. The Flying Dutchmen capped the scoring in the 89th minute.
Goalkeeper Eli Sizemore stood tall for the Bulldogs, recording six saves on 26 Hope shots.
Adrian finishes their season with a 6–13–1 overall record and a 3–3–1 mark in MIAA play.
