ADRIAN, MICH. - The Adrian College women's wrestling team wrapped up the Adrian College Women's Duals with a strong finish, securing a victories against Point Park University, Carthage College, and D'Youville University. Despite hard-fought efforts, the Bulldogs fell short in their matchup to Gannon University.
In their first dual of the day, the Adrian College women's wrestling team faced a matchup against Point Park University, defeating them 33-9.
Adrian started on the advantage with a forfeit.
Carleigh Czerneski made a strong statement at 117 pounds, securing a victory by a tech fall. At 117 pounds,
Makayla Matson was taken down with a tech fall. Adrian took advantage of two wins by forfeit. While,
Taylor Cutler at 145 pounds secured a victory by tech fall. At 160 pounds,
Aliya Conner secured herself a victory by fall. Lastly, Point Park took one more win at 180 pounds with
Zeinabou Toure by fall.
In their second dual of the day, Adrian faced off against Carthage College defeating them 37-6.
Adrian started on a rough note at 103, with
Vy Tran taking a fall. However, at 117, Czerneski took back over with an early with with a fall. Matson following with a win on her mat with a fall. In 131,
Sophia Renteria won hers by decision in a close match.
Mason Harsch won big in her match at 145 by tech fall.
Zionah Gardner earned herself a quick match in 145 pounds winning by fall. The Bulldogs continued their domanice at 160 pounds from
Paige Willman winning by fall in a close match. To finish off at 170 pounds,
Mia Gaetjens secured the victory with a win by fall.
In their third dual of the day, the Bulldogs fell to Gannon University 15-29.
Gannon started early taking the lead in 103 pounds. However at 110 pounds,
Alexis Baumgartner won her match by tech fall. Czerneski at 117 with another win on the day with another tech fall to give the Bulldogs the lead. In a close battle on the 145 mat, Harsch took the victory by fall. The Bulldogs went on to loss their next four matches to conclude their dual against Gannon.
In their final dual of the day, the Adrian College women's wrestling team faced off against D'Youville University, securing a 27-20 victory.
D'Youville took the lead to start at 103. Czerneski making herself dominate on the mats today with another win by fall early in the match. Matson, also at 117 won her second match of the day with a close battle by fall.
Angelica Steffy secured a win by fall in 138 pounds. Gaetjens closed out the day in a close matchup winning by fall.
The Adrian College women's wrestling team is set to host the Adrian College Women's Invitational tomorrow, with the first match scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.
