Fourth Quarter Comeback Falls Short for Women's Basketball at Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Adrian College women's basketball team traveled to Elmhurst University on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup. Despite offensive struggles for much of the night, the Bulldogs mounted a late comeback effort that fell short in a 60–54 loss.

Adrian trailed 17–14 after the first quarter and went into halftime down just two. Morgan Babb led the Bulldogs in the first half with 10 points, while Aubrie Ickes added eight. Hannah Lisch dished out three assists in the opening half, and Babb recorded two steals.

The Bulldogs struggled coming out of the locker room, shooting just 2-of-12 in the third quarter. Elmhurst took advantage and built a 14-point lead with eight minutes remaining in the game.

Adrian responded with a strong fourth-quarter push, cutting the deficit to seven with 2:34 left. A three-pointer from Anna Ignatoski and a layup by Ava Schultz brought the Bulldogs within three with 1:11 remaining. However, Adrian was unable to complete the comeback as Elmhurst held on for the victory.

Ickes finished with a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds, while Babb added 10 points and eight rebounds. Ignatoski and Schultz each contributed eight points. Adrian shot 35.2 percent from the field, compared to Elmhurst's 38.2 percent.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, December 30, when they travel to Ohio Dominican University for an exhibition contest. Adrian will then return home to face Albion College in a MIAA matchup on Saturday, January 3, at 3:00 p.m.
