Women's Basketball Season Comes to an End as Bulldogs Fall to Calvin Knights in MIAA Quarterfinal

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's basketball season came to an end on Tuesday as the Bulldogs fell to the Calvin Knights in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Conference Tournament, 75-61.

Adrian entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed, setting themselves up for a road match at No. 6 Calvin. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs were hopeful to advance to the second round, especially after getting the best of the Knights earlier this season, but that effort unfortunately fell short.

After a hot start, the Bulldogs and Knights battled to a first quarter tie. The Knights got the best of the Bulldogs in quarter two, but it was the Bulldogs who dominated for the second half of the game, tying the third and winning the fourth quarters. Although, after a 19-point deficit in the second quarter, the explosive second half wasn't enough as Adrian couldn't hold off Calvin to move on.

Morgan Babb scored 18 points in the game to lead her team, while Aubrie Ickes registered 17 and Hannah Lisch collected 12. In the rebound category, Kylie Skidmore collected 8 points and a team-lead 8 boards and a team-lead 4 assists. Skidmore and Lisch also grabbed 3 steals apiece to lead in the effort. Kaitlyn Otto added 6 points for the Bulldogs.

Both the Bulldogs and Knights went hard in the paint on Tuesday, potting 28 points each in the key, but Calvin had the upper-hand in fast-break points and scoring off the bench. In the game, Adrian shot 41.7% from field-goal range, 30% from three, and 64.3% from the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs showed incredible promise this season and continue to strengthen themselves as a team to look out for in the future. They end their season with a 7-19 record and will return to the court in the fall.
