ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team took down Purdue Northwest at the Arrington Ice Arena on Friday night, advancing to the GL6 Championship tomorrow night at the Arrington Ice Arena.
The No. 1 Seed Bulldogs hosted No. 4 Seed Purdue Northwest in the semifinal round of the GL6 Playoff Tournament, after previously beating the Pride twice earlier in the season. Adrian dominated the full 60 minutes on Thursday, blanking Purdue Northwest and earning a shot to play for a Conference Championship on home ice on Friday night.
Hunter Allen opened the scoring for Adrian in the first period off a strong solo effort, driving to the net for a beautiful unassisted tally. In the middle frame,
Ethan McLaughlin converted on the power play, followed by
Matteo Turrin, who buried one even strength to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead after two periods.
The Bulldogs continued to push the Pride on their heels, carrying most of the play in the offensive zone and firing 22 shots on goal in the final frame.
Dylan Gajewski and
Sebastian Smith added goals in the third as the Bulldogs out-shot the Pride 52-21 in the game and secured the home semifinal victory.
Noah Decottignies continued his stellar season as he made 21 saves in his seventh shutout win of the year.
After a semifinal win over Grand Valley State, Calvin University also advances and will take on the Bulldogs in the GL6 Championship Game tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.
