Men's Lacrosse Lights Up the Scoreboard and Smashes Dubuque, 23-7

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team returned home on Saturday afternoon, where they hosted the University of Dubuque Spartans. The Bulldogs put on an impressive offensive display, defeating Dubuque 23-7.

Adrian wasted no time, jumping out to an early 6-0 lead with a pair of goals from Trace Tidswell. Dubuque responded with three straight goals to close out the first quarter, narrowing the gap to 6-3. However, the Bulldogs dominated the second quarter, shutting out the Spartans and scoring eight goals. Five different players found the back of the net in the second, with Michael Jonas and Austin Selvage both scoring twice, while Tyler Ristau added two as well.

The third quarter saw a slower pace, as both teams traded two goals. Jonas netted both of Adrian's goals in the period, bringing his tally to five on the day. The fourth quarter saw the scoring pick up once again, as Adrian scored seven goals to Dubuque's three.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were strong, as Dubuque finished 0-for-4 on man-up opportunities. Adrian also controlled the ground game, scooping up 37 ground balls compared to Dubuque's 23.

Jonas led the way with an outstanding performance, totaling nine points on five goals and four assists. Selvage added four goals, while Alec Winegar finished with three. Aiden Strader had a multi-point game, contributing a goal and two assists. In goal, Sam Spangler made seven saves in 54 minutes, while Andrew Buss played the final six minutes, keeping the Spartans off the board.

With the win, Adrian improves to 5-3 on the season and extends their winning streak to three games. They'll look to carry this momentum into their next contest on the road at Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, March 19, at 7:00 PM.
