ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College is expanding its athletic department by adding three new teams, bringing the total number of programs to 53. The Bulldogs will introduce Competitive Cheerleading, Division III Club Baseball, and Club Wrestling, with efforts to compete set to begin for the 2025-26 academic year.
Currently, Adrian College has a cheerleading team that performs at all home football games and select men's and women's basketball games. The addition of a competitive cheerleading program will offer student-athletes another chance to compete at the collegiate level. The Bulldog cheer squad will compete in multiple events leading up to the NCA Nationals at the end of the season.
Adrian College will also add a second club baseball team to compete in the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). The existing club baseball team competes at the NCBA Division I level, while the new team will compete at the NCBA Division III level—where Adrian first began its original club baseball program and won the 2018 Division III World Series.
The final new addition is club wrestling, which will compete in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA). The NCWA represents numerous programs nationwide and provides a competitive platform for student-athletes in wrestling. The Bulldogs will participate in various Open tournaments across the state, region, and country, with the ultimate goal of competing for National Championships.
"We're thrilled to continue growing the athletic department at Adrian College," said Athletic Director Craig Rainey. "Our goal is to create more opportunities for student-athletes to pursue their passion for sports while offering an exceptional collegiate experience. At the end of the day, we want to provide the best environment for student-athletes to thrive."
Adrian College is currently finalizing coaching staff for the newly formed programs and will announce details later this week.
